July 4th Celebration (Friday, July 4, 2014)
The waterfront in Downtown Morehead City comes alive on the 4th of July with live music and fireworks. The entire family will enjoy sounds of The Main Event Band as they perform from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. at Jaycee Park on the Morehead City Waterfront. Celebrate the 4th by dancing to the music and viewing a spectacular fireworks display on the waterfront. The fireworks display will be launched from Sugarloaf Island across from Jaycee Park at 9:00 p.m. For more information call 252-726-5083.
Outdoor Ice Skating Rink – (2014 Dates & Times TBA)
Celebrate the holiday season by skating on the Morehead City Waterfront. The Morehead City Parks & Recreation Department will be operating an artificial ice skating rink durng the Christmas holidays. Skating fees are $5.00 per skater (fee includes rental skates) for each 45-minute skating session. Skating sessions are limited to 40 skaters per session. For group ticket sales, please contact the MCPRD at 726-5083. All participants or parents/guardians of minor participants must read and sign a release waiver to skate.

The use of an artificial ice skating rink and its facilities has inherent risks and dangers which may cause injury to skaters. Any use of and/or participation in use of the rink is at your sole risk. No responsibility is accepted or undertaken by the Town or the rink’s provider/manufacturer for the wellbeing of the user, their guests, or the property of either. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse admission to anyone, or remove from the premises anyone, not abiding by the rules. In consideration for your access and use, and by your use you expressly agree, to release, hold harmless and indemnify the Town of Morehead City, its officers, officials, employees and agents, from all claims for property damages, injury or death which you may suffer or for which you may be liable to others, arising out of the use of the artificial ice skating rink and any skates or other equipment/devices provided, whether such claims are for negligence or any other theory of recovery, except for intentional misconduct on the part of the Town. Persons less than 18 years of age must have written permission from their parents or guardians to skate.
Crystal Coast Countdown
Atlantic Beach, Beaufort, Emerald Isle, Morehead City, Newport, & Pine Knoll Shores are hosting the Second Annual “Crystal Coast Countdown”. Crystal Coast Countdown is an exciting celebration for all ages beginning Friday, December 27, 2013 – Wednesday, January 1, 2014!
This 5-day extravaganza will span multiple venues throughout the county. The event will feature indoor and outdoor activities with a lineup of musicians, storytellers, dance groups, tours, artists & art competitions and much more! New Year’s night promises an exhilarating countdown to midnight complete with a “Crab Pot Drop”, live music and fireworks!

Easter Egg Hunt – Mon., Apr. 21 (9:30 a.m. start)
Our Annual Easter Egg Hunt is rescheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Rotary Park located at 2200 Mayberry Loop Road in Morehead City. The egg hunt activity areas are divided into three sections by the following age groups: 4 & under, 5-8, and 9-12. NO PETS PLEASE!
Although thousands of eggs will be in each age section, kids tend to clean up these candy-filled eggs much faster than they clean their rooms!! Plan to arrive early because the youth usually collect all the eggs in less than two minutes. DON’T BE LATE!! For more information call 252-726-5083.
Family 1 Mile Walk/Fun Run – Mon., Apr. 21 (10:00 a.m. start)
Following the Egg Hunt, bring the whole family to walk and/or run on the Rotary Park-O’Neal Field exercise trail. The 1 Mile Walk/Fun Run will begin at 10:00 a.m. and MCPRD staff will direct participants on the 1 mile course. This inaugural event promotes family wellness and pre-registration is not required for this event. Each family that completes the 1 mile circuit will receive a family prize pack. NO PETS or BIKES PLEASE!
