THE TOWN OF MOREHEAD CITY in eastern coastal North Carolina has a full-time vacancy for an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER. This position performs skilled work managing the development and maintenance of the City’s Information Technology systems, telephone systems and other related work. Work involves, but not limited to, develop short and long term IT needs; research emerging/developing trends in technology; maintain network operating systems; troubleshoot, install and/or repair hardware, software, mobile applications/devices, VOIP telephone systems; ability to troubleshoot and resolve user and system problems; assist with preparation and management of IT budget; maintain City website and other social media outlets; negotiate contracts/purchases for IT related products and services; ensure IT systems backup/security; assist with formulation of policies/procedures/best practice guidance. Thorough knowledge of equipment/materials used in hardware, network systems, network security, VPN connections, routing, switching, Wi-Fi technology, TCP/IP networking principals and troubleshooting; effectively communicate with staff members, elected officials, vendors, and general public in oral and written forms; ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in the performance of the work.

Preferred education and experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related field; considerable experience in computer systems administration and management. TCP/IP and A+ certifications required. NC driver’s license required. Excellent benefits package. Hiring range: $40,768 – $46,884 depending on experience and qualifications. The TOWN OF MOREHEAD CITY has a vacancy for a part-time LIBRARY ASSISTANT. Duties include: assisting library patrons in use of equipment, borrowing books, and locating library materials; researching reference sources; maintaining records and files; assisting with cataloging of library materials. Requires general knowledge of library procedures and knowledge and interest in books including reader interest levels. MUST BE PROFICIENT IN COMPUTER SKILLS. Light work requiring lifting up to 10#, frequent stooping, reaching, standing and climbing stairs. Self-starter with excellent communication skills. Position is part-time with flexible daytime hours, including evenings and Saturday hours. Consideration will be given to any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in the library field. Hourly rate: $10.40. No benefits.
